Each year during the holiday season, Philly Primary focuses on our community by choosing a project that instructs our students on what it means to be a member of our community and the importance of supporting our community. In keeping with the holiday season, Philly Primary has chosen the Jefferson County SPCA as our Community Project. We will begin collecting donations starting on Monday, December 3rd. The final day to donate will be Monday, December 17th. Please drop donations off at Philly Primary during school hours.

The Fort Drum Regional Liaison Organization (FDRLO) and Jefferson Community College’s Center for Community Studies are conducting a survey of area parents regarding your thoughts and feelings about educational opportunities for your children in this region. The results of this survey will help FDRLO to advocate for and support Fort Drum in the years to come, so we ask that you please take about 5 to 10 minutes to complete the survey. It’s completely confidential, and if you participate you will be eligible for a drawing for a gift card.

Artsonia in the Art Classroom

This year students at Philadelphia Primary are using an online art portfolio called Artsonia. It is a way for parents to be involved in the art program and encourage young artists. Parents are able to share this information with close friends and relatives and create an artist fan club for their young artist. Since September, 280 artworks are up on the site to view. There are 131 artist fans actively involved; leaving comments for students, purchasing reproduced student artwork, and receiving online newsletters from art classroom. I noticed students take great pride in their artwork and will ask me if they could post it on Artsonia soon. It has been a great asset in the art classroom when it comes to communication with

Free Meals for Students at Philadelphia and Theresa Primary Schools!

The Indian River Central School District is pleased to announce that all students at Philadelphia and Theresa Primary Schools will be served free meals at no charge for the 2018-19 school year, through the Community Eligibility Provision of the Healthy Hunger-Free Schools Act and the National School Lunch Act. All students are allowed to be served free breakfast and lunch each day at school. Philadelphia and Theresa Primary Schools are the only schools in the District that are eligible for this due to the minimum number of students who were identified for free meals during the previous school year. The District is excited to be able to offer this to our students at Philly and Theresa!

2018-2019 Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program Application now available!

If your child resides in the Indian River Central School District and will be 4 years of age on or before December 1, 2018, he or she is eligible to participate in our Universal Pre-Kindergarten program at Calcium, Evans Mills, and Philadelphia Primary. Submit your application by April 20, 2018 to be included in the first placement lottery.
